Okay, here's a question that is going out to every single person that reads this, which means this is my first (and probably only) not FO entry.
You know when you read a book and the main character is someone you just love, but it's not a fandom type of book, so there will be no games for said book, but you would love to play a character (or the main character) of said book? I have this problem ... like ... severely.
When I finished reading Looking for Alaska, I wanted to play Alaska Young SO bad that it hurt. I couldn't get the book off my mind for ages, and to this day, I base some of my characters off of her in several ways. But wouldn't it be so much better if I could just play her some where? It happened again today when I started and finished My Heartbeat The main character, Ellen McConnell, is like ... 14, freshman, no friends but her brother and his best friend ... who are sortta kindda gay, but don't want to admit it, even if it's true, or even partly a lie (it really is complicated) I don't want to explain the book, but I would love to play Ellen somehow, but I don't play anyone young enough to be based after her.
I was talking to someone about how it would be really cool if there were some sort of game where you could pick any book character and play them. I know I'm not the only person who wants to play non-fandom characters. This game wouldn't be multifandom, and possibly borderline PSL, but it would be a way to put that character from a book with a face and into play the way things happened in the book (or after if you didn't like the ending, etc.) I think it would be neat, but maybe a hard concept for some people to understand? It wouldn't be a place to go RP Harry/Ginny, but a place where some kids are at boarding school, or prep school, art school or working in art galleries. Frankly, as much as I love HPRPG, I'm kind of bored with it and fairy tale never was interesting to me. I don't really like any of the other fandoms, so where does that leave me? Exactly. I know there are other people out there thinking this, too.
Is it do-able or am I just insane? Who would join? Would it turn out good? Would it be worth it to even try? If I get okay input, I'd seriously consider doing this. I'd make up a list of cities and schools, local hangout spots, etc. I'm all in if people are willing to agree that I'm not totally, completely insane.
Then again, this would be proof that I have no life.
Whoever seriously read that is a god.
